Thanks for visiting my website and wanting to find out more about me. I am an attorney licensed to practice law in both Oregon state courts as well as the federal district court in Portland and Colorado. I am a proud member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. I am also very active in the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section, for which I have served as the secretary and chair of the executive committee.
I received my undergraduate degree from Marylhurst University located just outside of Portland. I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Willamette College of Law in Salem in 2007, and then moved back to Portland to practice law. I am originally from Michigan, but I have lived in Oregon for most of my adult life, and I will never move back to the Midwest (sorry Michiganders!). Since then I have been practicing as a solo attorney, or as a part of a small firm, and have learned the practice of law from the “ground up.”
I have chosen to practice bankruptcy and consumer rights law because I get to help out the everyday person or a family who just needs a fresh start, or who have been unfairly taken advantage of. Far too often creditors and debt collectors cross the line and engage in abusive practices that violate state or federal laws. When this happens, I zealously seek the justice that my clients deserve, defending their rights against the heavy hand and significant resources of these big companies and the law firms that represent them. It gives me great satisfaction to fight on behalf of disadvantaged consumers.
Like most Oregonians, I enjoy outdoor activities like camping and hiking. I also love sports (go Blazers!), traveling, movies, gardening, live music, and good food. I am firmly rooted in the Portland community. I believe that Portland is truly the best city in the country and I am grateful that I can be a part of the exciting changes and unique challenges that will continue to come our way.
